BopperYoga is nestled in the heart of a historic residential district on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The studio was created to hold small and private classes, workshops and lectures. It is fully-equipped with props such as mats, blankets, blocks, bolsters and chairs. Our philosophy is that yoga is a practice for everybody in EVERY BODY.

Studio FAQs

  • Brette loves teaching those new to yoga and beginners who are welcome in any class. She suggests that new students email her at brettepopper@gmail.com to discuss any considerations, health concerns or issues. It is possible that she will suggest a private lesson, Zoom call or Basics Workshop to assess appropriate postures and possible modifications.

  • Brette’s practice and teaching has been informed by her interest in movement, breathwork and alignment principles. Most of her trainings and apprenticeships have been with teachers steeped in the Iyengar and Svastha Yoga schools, both lineages are offshoots of the teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya.

Brette currently studies Sanskrit and Scripture with Prem Sadasivananda who was schooled in the Sivananda Yoga Tradition. She also studies Tibetan Buddhism with Khenpo Pema Wandak of the Sakya School and Tai Chi, a movement meditation rooted in Taoism with Sharon Smith. Her practice and teaching are ever-changing and informed by these influences.
